Saddle Up!

We went to the Old Sorehead Trade Days in Stanton this weekend. Will got to ride a pony and LOVED it! I wish we had gotten a picture of his ear-to-ear grin!

Pretty Words

Claire officially turned nine months old on Tuesday. Happy Nine Months, Claire! Unfortunately, I don't think she is feeling very well this week. She's been moodier than normal, but she's still a great baby! Growing so fast in so many ways. I can't even remember what I've written lately, but in case I haven't said it, she does have two teeth, both on the bottom. I think her top two aren't too far behind.

Claire has decided to make her nine month birthday a special one by saying a few words. For a long time (since she was tiny), it has sounded like Claire says actual words. For instance if you asked her a question such as, "Do you want to go to sleep now?" it might sound as if she answered you, "No," or "Maybe." Obviously, this was just coincidence. Well, in the last few days, I think she has actually begun to speak. My boss was showing her a necklace on Wednesday and saying to Claire, "pretty." Then Claire plainly said, "pretty." We looked at each other with a that's-creepy expression. Then she said it again. And again. And about 10 or 15 more times.

The previous evening Will was standing in front of Claire and talking to her and playing with her. I pointed at Will and said, "brother" several times. Claire then repeated something that sounded strangely like brother. The next morning we all ended up in our bed to start off the day. Again, the kids were talking and playing together. And again, Claire clearly said something very much like "brother" in Will's direction. She has repeated "pretty" a few times in the last day or so, and also said something very like "bye-bye" and also "baby."

So, is she speaking? Since I'm the one who gets to write down her first words in her baby book, I'm going to go ahead and say yes, her first words were pretty and brother. How cool is that? :)
